Wooden Chair 1993
This chair is made from a single sheet of Baltic Birch plywood. It uses no nails, screws, glue or other fasteners. It is assembled by fitting notched members through slotted pieces.
The chair can be easily reproduced by laying the full-scale template drawing over a sheet of plywood, cutting with a band saw, and assembling the pieces with a rubber mallet.
The seat is surprisingly comfortable because the chair has just a slight amount of flexibility. The high, throne-like back adds drama to a design clearly influenced by De Stijl, Aalto, and Frank Lloyd Wright.
